Telfes alpine pastures: mountain biking in Ratschings and Sterzing
Mountain biking is a sport whit many advantages: you can train your condition, you reach (almost) every mountain, you get to know your own limitations and rev after rev you can enjoy new panoramas.And the downhill part is always a pure pleasure. A special tip for mountain bikers is the tour in Ratschings to Mount Rosskopf.
The mountain bike tour
Attention at the second hairpin bend in Telfs: don’t take further the asphalted road but take the forest track to Rainer House and Mount Rosskopf. Go on for other 6 km and pass at the Furlhütte Refuge and on the left side to the Sterzingerhaus Refuge (look at the signposts!). Cycle to Sternhütte Refuge and then on path 23 to the Kuh-and Ochsenalm alpine pasture. In summer are open all huts and refuges.
To turn back take the path to Freundalm alpine pasture and cycle to Telfs. There you take the asphalted road to return to Sterzing and the valley station of Mount Rosskopf cable car.
