Hiking in Eisacktal Valley
From Mühlbach to Meransen on the historic Lindenweg path
The path which connects Mühlbach and Meransen was first mentioned in 1174 and it is one of the most exciting and ancient paved paths in South Tyrol and one of the few some – how a legend says - on which even Attila walked. The legend tells that 3 burgundy princesses Aubet, Cubet and Querre were on the run from the Huns. On their escape they came to the Säben monastery in Klausen and then over Mühlbach to Meransen, where they wanted to hide themselves. But on their way they collapse. Suddenly a source opened and the 3 princesses get strong and walked on. The source is there even today, a small chapel remembers the legend.
The excursion
After 2 hours of walk you reach a meadow and after some minutes the mountain village Meransen. Return to Mühlbach by taking the cable car.
