Hiking in Eisacktal Valley

From Klausen to Säben monastery

The Säben monastery is also called “Acropolis of Tyrol” and it is situated since centuries on a rocky hill above Klausen in Eisacktal Valley.
The monastery is a place of peace and quietness and a rewarding excursion-destination, too.

The excursio

The short excursion begins in the center of the lovely city of Klausen in Eisacktal Valley on path 1. The path is very well marked. Climb steeply stairs and you will reach soon Branzoll Castle, which unfortunately isn’t accessible. Here begins the ancient and rocky pilgrimage route which leads you to the highest point of the excursion the Heiligkreuz Church, which is a part of Säben monastery.

The excursion lasts only about 40 minute, but the tour is nevertheless worthwhile: the view over Klausen and Eisacktal Valley is amazing and the monastery offers many secrets, who want to be discovered.
Excursions in Klausen are always thrilling cultural experiences.
