A difficult but rewarding mountain bike tour is the one from Compatsch near Kastelruth to Tierser Alp and to Saltria. Pay attention at the downhill track to Saltria: it is very challenging!

The mountain bike tour

The 4 hours long mountain bike tour begins in Compatsch near Kastelruth in the beautiful Schlern area. Follow the signpost country lane to Mahlknecht Refuge and charge your batteries before you begin the uphill track to Tierser Alp (2440 m above sealevel).

At Tierser Alp begins the breathtaking downhill track to Saltria (1700m above sea level). You have to be an expert mountain biker for this trail. If you are not expert enough, dismount the bike and hustle it: so can enjoy better the great view over the Mount Rosszähne. Arrived in Saltria you turn back to Compatsch on a 6 km long track.
