Hiking in the Dolomites
From Pedratsches to Lavarella Refuge
Pedratsches is a small and lovely village situated at the feeds of Mount Heiligkreuzkofel in the Dolomites.
During every sunset the massif of the mountains turns into red, an amazing phenomenon that is called “
enrosadire”. Very impressive is also the excursion from Pedratsches to
Lavarella Refuge, during which you get over the great
Mount Heiligkreuzkofel.
The excursion
First of all you have to take the
chairlift in Pedratsches to come to a
sea level of 1840 and to Heiligkreuz hospice. On a very steep path you
have to walk to Heiligkreuzkofel nick (2618 m above sea level) and to
the peak of this marvelous mountain. Relax here for a while before you
continue your excursion on path 12 and 7 to
Lavarella Refuge. Arrived
there you will surely feel tired: the excursion lasts 6 hours. Because
of that we recommend to return to Pedratsches only the next day.
