Kastelruth is a beautiful and very picturesque little village embedded in green hills and situated at the mountain foot of the mighty Schlern. It is also the home of the folk music group “Kastelruther Spatzen”.
The community has roughly 5500 inhabitants and includes also the municipalities of Seis, Sankt Oswald, St. Vigil, Tisens, Tagusens and St. Michael.
The area catches the fancy of thousands tourists all throughout the year but Kastelruth is particularly famous for its ‘Spatzen Festival’ in October.
Nature invites for pleasure walks trough fields of flowers and wide spreading forests. On your holiday in Kastelruth you can visit two of the most famous mountain of the Dolomites: Mount Schlern and the Rosengarten.
Here you can travel trough climbing and hiking routes with varying degrees of difficulty ranging from absolute beginner to freestyle expert.
The nearby Seiser mountain pasture (Europe’s largest mountain pasture) is a welcoming and exceptionally pleasant place to find some rest or refreshment.
But also culturally Kastelruth has a great deal to offer (apart from the folk music of course!): concert, museums, visit to the near city of Bozen.
