Hiking in the Dolomites

Excursion in Hochpustertal: to the Sorapiss Lake

Situated between the Sexten-Dolomites and the Cortina-Dolomites, the Sorapiss Lake is maybe one of the most beautiful lakes in South Tyrol and surroundings.
A 4 hours long excursion brings you to this nature wonder of turquoise color.

The excursion

The excursion begins at the Tre Croci Pass. You reach the pass driving from Toblach to Landro Valley (amazing view over the Drei Zinnen peaks). Take path 215 in Eastern direction there and walk through the “In Po’Taméi” rift.

Then you have to hike Col Cuco hill and continue the excursion at the feet of Mount Come di Malquoria. On rocks and iron stairs you will arrive in the Val d’Ansiei Valley and to the Carnic Alps. The path leads you along Sorapiss brook and to Vandello Refuge, where you can enjoy specialties from Cortina. Behind the refuge lays the amazing Sorapiss Lake: don’t forget to shoot some pictures!

To turn back to Tre Croci pass choose the same paths as to get to Sorapiss Lake. Arrived at the starting point we recommend undertaking a side trip to Misurina Lake (by car).
