Hiking in the Dolomites

From Gsies Valley to Mount Hörneckele

The Gsies Valley is one of the most original valley in South Tyrol. It is surprising because of the untouched nature, the sparkling brooks, the lovely huts and the gorgeous villages, where life seems to be like 50 years ago.

The excursion

The excursion (you will take 5 hours) begins in St. Martin in Gsies near the Karbacherhof farm at 1440 m above sea level. On a easy path you walk hike through the Karbachtal Valley and to the peak of Mount Hörneckele (2126 m above sea level), where a wonderful view over Gsies Valley is expecting you. To turn back to the starting point, choose path 52A: walk to Mount Karbacherberg (2517 m above sea level) and cross the Pfinnscharte gap (2395 m above sea level). Here you have to take path 6 which brings you to St. Magdalena and finally back to St. Martin in Gsies.

The easy excursion in Gsies Valley is perfect to discover the lovely valley, its panoramas and its nature. It is doable also for children.
