Hiking in the Dolomites
From Gsies Valley to Mount Hörneckele
The Gsies Valley is one of the most original valley in South Tyrol. It is surprising because of the untouched nature, the sparkling brooks, the lovely huts and the gorgeous villages, where life seems to be like 50 years ago.
The excursion
The excursion (you will take 5 hours) begins in
St. Martin in Gsies
near the
Karbacherhof farm at 1440 m above sea level. On a easy path
you walk hike through the
Karbachtal Valley and to the peak of
Mount
Hörneckele (2126 m above sea level), where a wonderful view over Gsies
Valley is expecting you. To turn back to the starting point, choose
path 52A: walk to Mount Karbacherberg (2517 m above sea level) and
cross the Pfinnscharte gap (2395 m above sea level). Here you have to
take
path 6 which brings you to St. Magdalena and finally back to St.
Martin in Gsies.
The easy excursion in Gsies Valley is perfect to discover the lovely
