Hiking in the Dolomites

Panoramic tour from Corvara to Mt. Sassongher

With an altitude of 2625 m above sea level the Mt. Sassongher isn’t very high, the walking time is short: but don’t underestimate it. Before you reach the peak you have to show climbing experience! Recompense is the amazing panoramic view over the Mount Sella, Mount Geißler and the valley of Corvara in the Dolomites.

The excursion

Starting point of this excursion is Kolfuschg. Taking the chairlift (open only in summer) you reduce the walking time much. Arrived at the summit station (2038 m above sea level) you have to take path 4 and then path 7. On it you reach the Sassongher pass. Instead of following path 7, you have to follow the hike-traces in Southern direction and after some steep rock-stairs you finally reach the peak of Mount Sassongher. Here you can enjoy the great view over the mountains and valley above-mentioned. Amazing!

During the descent you have to pay attention at falling rocks: especially in summer many excursionists want to hike Mount Sassongher and the danger that someone gets hurt by a rock is much higher. To return to Kolfuschg, take the same paths as to get there. For the whole excursion you need 5 hours.
