Rock Festivals and Open Airs in South Tyrol

When you think about South Tyrol, you think about beautiful landscapes, cozy cities, romantic mountain pastures and traditional folk music. You are thinking right, because maybe you don’t know that in South Tyrol also a lot of Rock Festivals and Open Airs take place.

Here we want to present to you the festivals Rock im Ring, Badia Rocks and Rock’n’Tol. These 3 festivals are representing the festival-scene in South Tyrol. How their names tell, there is no jazz-music or classic-music but simply rock and heavy metal. The festivals are partially so successful, that even fans from Germany and Southern Italy come to visit the festival.


The most successful festival in South Tyrol is the Rock im Ring Open Air in Ritten. 2008 it takes place at 4th and 5th June, Headliners are Agnostic Front and Comeback Kid from USA. Many local bands will rock the stage, too, the organization counts on more than 1000 visitors.

At the same weekend also Badia Rocks invites rock- and metal-fans to come to Pedratsches in Alta Badia. Brainstorm is this year’s headliner. Badia Rocks is a small festival with the fantastic background of Mt. Heiligkreuzkofel. Last year it celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Rock’n’Tol however after a 2 years breaks takes place again this year in St. Jakob in Ahrntal Valley in the middle of August.

Last but not least we want to mention also the Eternity of Rock festival in Prad am Stilfser Joch in Vinschgau Valley. There played already Volbeat, Brainstorm and Legion of the Damned: bands which rock fans know.
